no的用法
no作为形容词性质时，在句中作定语，表示否定，译为没有、不是，可修饰单数、复数可数名词和不可数名词。
1.用于there is(are)，have，have got之后，等于not any。如：
(1)There a搜索re no clouds in the sky.天上没有云。
(2)He has no dignity.He is always behaving foolishly.他没有尊严，经常表现愚蠢。
(3)I've got no home.我没有家。
2.用于连系动词之后，等于not a，但语气很强。如：
(4)The girl was no beauty.这姑娘才不漂亮哩。
(5)He is no friend of mine.他才不是我的朋友哩。
(6)Between you and me，it's no bad thing.就你我知道，这并不是件坏事。
3.用于其它动词之后。如：
(7)The boat made no headway against the tide.这条船在逆潮中行进不了了。
(8)He could expect no sympathy from Beth.他不指望能得到贝斯的同情。
(9)I took no part in these negotiations.我没有参加这些谈判。
4.用于修饰其它句子成分。如：
(10)No boy at the school had ever seen the sea.学校里没有一个孩子曾见过大海。
(11)I am in no mood for jokes.他没有情绪开玩笑。
5.用于下列省略结构、固定结构或用于警告、命令等标识。如：
(12)No admittance except on business.非公莫入。
(13)No thoroughfare.此路不通。
(14)No pains，no gains.不劳则无获。
(15)No smoking!不许吸烟。
(16)No parking!禁止停车。
6.用于表示程度，=no+any，用作状语，修饰形容词原级、比较级和副词比较级。如：
(17)But this is no unimportant question，my dear Mum.不过这可不是个无足轻重的问题，我亲爱的妈妈。
(18)She was no older than Li Yan.她不比李岩年纪大。
(19)He went no further.他不再往前走了。
7.用于固定习语。如：
(20)Men are no longer at the mercy of nature.人类已不再任凭大自然摆布了。
(21)There's no such thing as ghosts.没有鬼这样的东西。
no与not的用法
这两个词在词义和使用场合上都有所不同。
No可以作副词，也可以作名词和形容词;not只能用作副词。现将它们各种用法分述如下，以便比较：
作副词时，no有下列两种用法：
(一)作为yes的反义词，用在回答问题的场合，表示“不”的意思。例：
No，I won't go to the casino. 不，我不去赌场。
(二)用在比较级之前，表示“并不”之意。例：
The weather today is no better than it was yesterday. 今天的天气并不比昨天好。
用作形容词时，no表示not any的意味。例：
There is no(=not any)time to lose.
时不可失。
注：当no用作形容词时，可直接放在名词之前，如果名词的前面有a、any、much、many、enough等词，就要改用not，不用no，因为not是副词，只有副词才有资格修饰a、any、much、many、enough等词。因此，我们说：
I have no money. =I have not any money.= I do not have any
money
注：no +u(不可数名词)=not +any +u
再如：There is no meat in the fridge =There is not nay meat in the fridge.
He has no brother =He does not have a brother.
注：no+可数名词单数= not┅a +可数名词单数
He has no brothers=He does not have any brothers.
注： No +可数名词复数=not…any +可数名词复数
Not可用于
(一)修饰动词：
I do not know any of them.
这些人我一个都不认识。
(二)修饰形容词：
It's not cold today.
今天天气不冷。
