英语语法：名词
名词可以分为专有名词(Proper Nouns)和普通名词 (Common Nouns)，专有名词是某个(些)人，地方，机构等专有的名称，如Beijing，China等。普通名词是一类人或东西或是一个抽象概念的名词，如：book，sadness等。普通名词又可分为下面四类：
1)个体名词(Individual Nouns)：表示某类人或东西中的个体，如：gun。
2)集体名词(Collective Nouns)：表示若干个个体组成的集合体，如：family。
3)物质名词(Material Nouns)：表示无法分为个体的实物，如：air。
4)抽象名词(Abstract Nouns)：表示动作、状态、品质、感情等抽象概念，如：work。
个体名词和集体名词可以用数目来计算，称为可数名词(Countable Nouns)，物质名词和抽象名词一般无法用数目计算，称为不可数名词(Uncountable Nouns)。归纳一下，名词的分类可以下图表示：

英语语法：名词误用辨析
1.中文：我买了两条裤子。
(误)I bought two trousers.
(正)I bought two pairs of trousers.(glasses，shoes，trousers，spectacles，scissors，stockings等表示由两个部分合成的字习惯用复数，在表示一(两)条，把，双时，用a pair of，two pairs of等修饰。)
2.中文：他是我最好的朋友之一。
(误)He is one of my best friend.
(正)He is one of my best friends.(one of后要接可数名词的复数形式。)
3.中文：动物是人类的朋友。
(误)Animals are men's friends.
(正)Animals are man's friends.(用单数的man表示人类。)
4.中文：这是一则好消息。
(误)This is a good news.
(正)This is a piece of good news.(表示chalk，music，advice，cloth，meat，news等不可数名词的单一数量用a piece of修饰。)
5.中文：你愿意跟我交朋友吗?
(误)Will you make a friend with me?
(正)Will you make friends with me?(和某人交朋友用friend的复数形式。)
6.中文：我有太多功课要做。
(误)I have too many homework to do.
(正)I have too much homework to do.(homework，work，housework等不可数名词用much修饰。)
7.中文：英语电视怎么说?
(误)What's English for 电视?
(正)What's the English for 电视?(英语作为学科或语言时不加the;用作特指时加the。)
8.中文：班一家人要搬往伦敦。
(误)The Ben's are going to move to London.
(正)The Bens are going to move to London.(the Ben's表示the Ben's house;the Bens表示Ben一家人。)
英语语法：And后面的名词起修饰作用
请看下面一个例句：
原文：All you can get from him is words and deceit.
译文：你从他那儿得到的全是言辞和欺骗。
辨误：这一句中的and也构成另一种习惯用法，and和其后的名词起定语作用，修饰and前面的名词，words and deceit的意思是“谎话”而不是“空话和欺骗”，全句可译成：他说的全是谎话。也可从反面入手，译成：从他那儿根本掏不到真话。
请看下面的例句：
He bought his sweet heart a necklace and gold yesterday.他昨天给自己的心上人买了一条金项链。
He enjoyed several dances and delight.他美美地跳了好几个舞。(英语中的定语常可译成状语。)
The little girl looked at the toy car with eye and envy.小女孩用羡慕的眼光看着那辆玩具汽车。
The beautiful scene is really beyond my power and description.景色实在太美，我实在无法形容。
He racked his brains but produced no more than a few verses and nonsense.他绞尽了脑汁，只拼凑出几首没有意思的打油诗。
莎士比亚(Shakespeare)的剧本“The Twelfth Night”中有这样一句：Then come and kiss me,sweet and twenty.有人解释说“sweet and twenty”的意思是“二十岁的甜人儿”，大概也能归于这种用法吧。
