  2017大学英语六级知识点讲解:宾语从句的引导词

  宾语从句通常由连词that和whether (if)、连接代词或连接副词以及关系代词型what引导:

  1. that引导

  We believe that he is honest. 我们相信他是诚实的。

  The doctor insists that I give up smoking医生坚持要我戒烟。

  I suggest that we should go tomorrow. 我建议我们明天走。

  I suggested that we should go the next day. 我建议我们第二天走。

  We learnt from his letter that he was in Spain. 从他的信里我们了解到他在西班牙。

  The seller demanded that payment should be made within five days. 卖方要求5日内付款。

  2. whether / if引导

  I don’t know whether he’ll arrive in time. 我不知道他是否能及时到。

  I didn’t know whether they liked the place. 我不知道他们是否喜欢这个地方。

  I’ll see whether I can induce him to accept it. 我要看看我是否能劝他接受。

  I asked her whether she agreed. 我问她是否同意。

  He enquired if her parents spoke Spanish. 他问她父母是否讲西班牙语。

  I wonder if it’s large enough. 我不知道它是否够大。

  She didn’t say if he was still alive. 她没说他是否还活着。

  3. 连接代词引导

  I don’t know who [whom] you mean. 我不知道你指谁。

  Please tell me which you like. 告诉我你喜欢哪一个。

  I’Il do whatever I can do. 我将做我所能做的事。

  You can take whichever you like. 你爱拿哪个就拿哪个吧。

  We’ll do whatever we can to save him. 我们将尽我们所能来挽救他。

  Take whichever seat you like. 你要坐哪个座就坐哪个座位。

  Give it to whoever you like. 你把它爱给谁就给谁。

  You don’t know what you are talking about. 你在说什么,你自己也不知道。

  Tomorrow at this time we’ll know who is elected. 明天这时候我们就会知道谁当选了。

  1This week Wal-Mart is set to announce a major initiative aimed at helping cotton farmers go organic:it will buy transitional cotton at higher prices, thus helping to expand the supply of a key sustainable material.

  译文本周沃尔玛超市准备宣布旨在帮助棉农们转向有机道路的主要措施:它将以更高的价格买下过渡型棉花,从而帮助扩大重要的可持续原料的供应。

  词汇讲解本句的主干是Wal-Mart is set to announce initiative。aimed at helping cotton farmers go organic为major initiative的后置定语;冒号之后的内容是对major initiative的具体解释说明,其中thus helping…为状语。

  he set to do sth.的意思是“准备好做某事”。

  如:They were all set to go when the bell rang.铃声响起时,他们都准备好要走了。

  aim at doing sth.的意思是“企图、力求做某事”。

  如:We must aim at increasing the profits.我们要力求增加利润。

  考点归纳:

  go除了作不及物动词表示“走,去,前进”等,还可以作系动词:

  ※ 表示“处于……状态”。

  如:I'd rather go hungry than have breakfast.我宁愿挨饿也不吃早餐。

  ※ 表示“变成,成为”。

  如:This eye patient may go blind.这位眼疾患者可能会变成瞎子。

  2Boys at single-sex schools were said to be more likely to get involved in cultural and artistic activities that helped develop their emotional expressiveness, rather than feeling they had to conform to the "boy code" of hiding their emotions to be a "real man"。

  译文据说,在单一性别学校里的男孩更有可能参与到有助于培养他们情感表达能力的文化和艺术活动中,而不会让他们觉得必须遵从“男孩法则”,掩饰自己的真性情从而成为“真正的男人”。

  词汇讲解本句的主干是Boys were said to be likely to... that helped develop their emotional expressiveness为定语从句修饰cultural and artistic activities; rather than 作介词,后接动名词结构feeling...,同时该结构中的they had to conform to the "boy code" of hiding their emotions to be a "real man”是feeling的宾语从句。

  be said to意为“据说,被认为”。

  如:Women are often said to be more emotional than men.女人常常被认为比男人更易动感情。

  2017大学英语六级知识点讲解:写作

  1.避免空洞的语言和句子

  写作中一些空洞的单词和词组不能为句子带来任何有关或重要信息,这种句子、词、词组在写作的时候完全可以被删掉。比如:

  When all things are considered, more and more young adults of today live more satisfying lives than those of their parents, in my opinion.

  在这句话中,“When all things are considered”和“in my opinion”在句子中都没有表达任何信息,因此会让阅卷人感觉考生有凑字数的嫌疑,这些内容完全可以去掉。改成:

  More and more young adults of today live more satisfying lives than those of their parents.

  2.用简洁的表达替换繁琐的表达

  Due to the fact that our grandparents were under an obligation to help their parents, they didn’t have the options that young people have at this point in time.

  句中的“Due to the fact”其实就是“because”的意思,“were under an obligation”等表达也很啰嗦,因此这个表达显得很繁琐,上面的句子可以替换为:

  Because our grandparents were obligated to help their parents, they didn’t have the options that young people have now.

  3.尽量避免使用同样词汇

  英文在表达的时候,如果表达的是同一个概念或意思,则在写作时会有意识用同义词、近义词等进行替换。这是英汉在表达中的区别之处,即英语重替换,汉语中重复,因此我们在写作的时候也要尽量不要使用同一词汇。比如:

  他的成功有几个方面的原因,第一个原因是靠自身勤奋,第二个原因是得到他导师的指点。

  Several reasons accounted for his success. One was his own diligence. Another was the guidance from his tutor.
