1、forgive sb. sth. 是双宾语,sth. 是直接宾语,指“免除掉的事物”或“原谅了的东西”,sb. 是间接宾语,指接受“免除或原谅的人”含义是“对某人作出原谅某事的举动”.forgive sb. for sth. 中的 for sth. 是原因状语,指“由于所犯的错误而原谅某人”或“原谅某人所犯的错误”.如：
She could not forgive him his infidelities. 她无法对他作出原谅其不忠行为的举动.
She could not forgive him for his infidelities.,她无法由于他的不忠行为而原谅他本人.
二者区别在于前者强调“不能原谅的就是不忠行为”,后者强调“不能原谅的是他本人及其所作所为,原因是他有不忠行为”.
2、forgive sb. sth 中的直接宾语只能用名词。如：
