第一种类型：F签证

这种类型的美国学生签证适用于打算来一所官方认可的美国学院或大学追求学术学位的国际学生，或者来一所大学学习英语或是来强化英语语言的机构的国际学生。F签证有三种类型：

?F-1签证适用于全日制的学生

?F-2签证适用于F-1签证持有人的家属(配偶和未婚且在21岁以下的孩子)，这个包含同性别的配偶。

?F-3签证适用于“边境通勤人员”—租住在原籍国的墨西哥和加拿大的学生，但是在美国就读非全日制或全日制的学校。
