雅思写作考试:20171209雅思大作文

  范文:

Nowadays, the regional disparity in wealth and development is a common problem facing many countries. The overall economic progress normally benefits people living in urban areas but excludes those in rural areas. This trend generates various problems.

To begin with, the imbalanced development between cities and villages leads to unreasonable population mobility. It is true that the rapid progress of urbanization requires support of abundant labor force. However, when too many young people are attracted to cities where there are obviously higher living standards and more job opportunities, the cities will become overcrowded while rural areas will face the shortage of labors. As a result, the resources in cities, like schools, houses and public infrastructure, may fail to meet the demand of a population growing wildly. On the country, the farmland in rustic areas may be left idle and wasted, as people move to cities for jobs.

Secondly, the widening gap between the rich and the poor is the breeding ground of social conflicts and poses potential threat to social stability. On the one hand, the flooding of migrant workers arouses complaints from city dwellers who have to confront more fiercer competition in job market and constant increase of living costs, such as the rents of houses. On the other hand, the striking contrast between city life and rural life casts a shadow over migrant workers. While trying hard to cope with the economic pressure, they still have to bear the jealous psychology. Gradually, there forms two unbridgeable groups of people.

Measures should be taken to deal with problems generated by imbalanced development of different regions. The top priority should be given to boosting economic development in rural areas by improving local education quality and generating job opportunities, so as to retain people.
